ManpowerGroup Greece, on behalf of its client, an International Technology Services Provider, with focus at offering digital transformation ticketing services in the airline industry, is looking for an experienced Cassandra Database Administrator to join their IT Operations Team.

Workplace Location: Greece – Fully Remote (you need to be based in Greece and holder of a valid EU Work Permit)

What you will be doing:

As a Cassandra Database Administrator, you will join the IT Operations Team that consists of system administrators, network engineers, Database Administrators, Cloud/SRE Engineers, Security engineers and DevOps building an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) platform. As a Cassandra Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the continuous monitoring, tuning, management, capacity planning and improvement of existing DSE and Apache

Cassandra Clusters, MySQL, Azure SQL and Cosmos DB Servers.

More specifically you will:

Perform monitoring, tuning, management, capacity planning and improvement of existing DBs and development, installation, monitoring of new Clusters/Servers

Perform installation and configuration to NoSQL (DSE and Apache Cassandra and Cosmos DB) as well as relational DBs (Azure SQL and MySQL)

Participate in development lifecycle and Deployment process

Mentoring Jnr DBA team

Perform monitoring, capacity planning of clusters performance and troubleshooting issues end-to-end, against very large data sets

Perform Database backup and recovery, connectivity and security, database creation and role assignment tasks

Participate in the development of Migration Tools (in Python or Java or BASH shell)

Monitor and Support customer cloud environment ensuring that the infrastructure is available, operational and that SLAs’ requirements are met

Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation monitoring systems for meeting defined SLAs

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an information technology field or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience

2+ years’ experience with large scale DSE and Apache Cassandra environments build and support including design, capacity planning, cluster set up, performance tuning and monitoring

2+ years’ experience with DSE and Apache Cassandra with expert understanding of NoSQL database, Cassandra Query Language and Cassandra Data Modeling

2+ years of experience, usage and administration skills in Linux systems (RedHat and CentOS)

Experience with Python, BASH scripting

2+ years of Relational Database Management Software (MySQL)

Demonstrate very strong problem-solving skills

Excellent English written and oral communication skills

It will be nice to have any of the following

Experience with one or more: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Microsoft Azure, Java, Perl and/or shell scripting

Networking background with a good understanding of TCP/IP, firewalls and DNS

UNIX systems experience (troubleshooting, administration, fine-tuning instrumentation and alerting)

Experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including: requirements gathering, design, coding, testing and production support
