ManpowerGroup, on behalf of its client, one of the largest Travel Organizations in Greece, is in search of a Chief Accountant, based in Athens.

Scope of the Role:
In this role you will be reporting to the CFO and you will be maintaining a direct and open communication line with the CEO. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: general ledger accountability and periodical accounting reporting, supervising a team of accountants, performing accounting transactions in certain areas of the accounting circuit with accuracy; the preparation/submission of balance sheet reconciliations timely; understanding and application of billing/revenue accounting processes and practices (the company operates under the VAT special regime); designing and performing internal auditing procedures for securing the integrity of the General Ledger; holding internal meetings; delegating tasks and responsibilities and delivering ad hoc reports as requested.

Responsibilities:
• Leads the daily accounting functions and operations, manages a team of specialists in the field.
• Maintains an accurate ledger, being able to review and effectively conduct periodical reconciliations.
• Carrying out of accounting procedures related to tax authorities’ liabilities (Tax returns of all kinds, VAT, Social Security requirements, Chambers of Commerce etc.).
• Summarizes financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet reports, profit and loss, and other stand-alone statements on a monthly basis
• Cooperates closely with the other functions, Treasury/Budgeting/Credit Control.
• Participation in the preparation of the yearly Budget and the monthly review meetings for reviewing and analyzing the Yearly Budget execution.
• Identifies accounting and operational areas that need auditing; creates easy to read audit reports and communicates the audit results in a clear and professional way.
• Assumes lead role in the annual external audit process.
• Leads process improvements by making recommendations on new or existing accounting processes or procedures to increase efficiency.
• Planning, assigning, directing work, and managing employee performance.
• Trains, supervises and evaluates staff; makes effective use of performance appraisals and evaluations to motivate direct reports and identify growth opportunities.
• Addresses complaints and resolves problems.

Profile:
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Master`s degree in Accounting and Auditing from the Institute of Chartered Accountants (IESOEL) or ACCA.
• Strong technical background on tax, accounting and labor law
• Signatory authority
• At least 7 years’ experience in similar capacity (preferably in the Tourism/Travel sector) with proven track history and supervisory background.
• Excellent command of English.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to function as a team player.
• Excellent team management skills.
• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
• Strong accounting and analytical experience.
• Work ethic to help maintain/promote team morale.
• Results-driven personality, with energy, commitment and a passion for learning and development.
